DIY Happy Birthday Sparkly Balloon card

red balloon happy birthday 1

Materials:

  • The Paper Studio value pack ivory notecard/envelope 4″x5.5″ [Michaels]
  • MS Word: Word Art (to print “happy birthday”)
  • Gemstones by Paper Studio Red Balloon Gem/Glitter sticker (Hobby Lobby)

OrganizationLove Pro Tips:

  • I designed the words “happy birthday” in Microsoft Word and printed directly on the card – I made the outline red to match the balloon
  • I got the balloon sticker on clearance from Hobby Lobby, so I don’t know if it’s still for sale. It was tough to arrange the balloon “string” to lie flat, but it was doable!

As you can see, there’s not a lot to this card!

Caption Ideas:

  • Because there are already words on the front of the card, outer captions are not necessary
  • Inside notes:
    • Have a great day
    • Hope your day is as amazing as you
    • Party time
    • Celebrate

DIY Congratulations on New Home card

DIY Congratulations on New Home cardMaterials:

  • Recollections Value Pack cards and envelopes in “Kraft” [Michaels]
  • Printer with black ink
  • Recollections Basic Bold 12″x12″ paper pad [Michaels]
  • Black fine point pen (chimney smoke and doorknob)
  • Elmer’s Craft Bond Tacky Glue 4 fl oz
  • Black fine point pen (chimney smoke and doorknob)
  • pencil, eraser, scissors, ruler

OrganizationLove Pro Tips:

  • When I design a new card in Microsoft Word, I always print on regular paper first before the actual card stock – to check if everything is centered and I am feeding the paper in the right way (trim paper to the size of the card you’re making)
  • I also make the shapes first on regular paper (not decorative) then trace onto backs of decorative paper with pencil before cutting out. For this card I traced the roof and body of the house (triangle and square.) I winged it with the chimney and door
  • If I made this card again, I would leave the doorknob off. I don’t like it a much as I thought I might

Caption Ideas:

  • Because there are already words on the front of the card, outer captions are not necessary
  • Inside notes:
    • So proud of you
    • Congratulations again
    • Enjoy your space
    • Can’t wait to visit

DIY Halloween Card

DIY Halloween card

Materials:

  • The Paper Studio Simply Solids box of cards (black card with envelope included) [Michaels]
  • Recollections “Halloween Boo” ribbon (pack of 5 – 3 shown) [Michaels]
  • Pumpkin / letter stickers
  • Fine silver Metallic Sharpie
  • Elmer’s Craft Bond Tacky Glue 4 fl oz
  • Halloween stickers (see Pro Tips*)

OrganizationLove Pro Tips:

  • Make sure you use plenty of glue on the ribbon. It’s heavier!
  • I don’t know where to find the pumpkin/letter stickers, they were a gift to me
  • The Happy Halloween ribbon says it repeatedly – I just used a little ribbon so it would only say “Happy Halloween” one time and include one jack-o-lantern
  • Metallic Sharpies are a great idea for dark paper or card stock! I used silver metallic Sharpie on the black card stock and it showed up great.
  • *I included Halloween stickers (on their backing) inside the card because I am delivering my cards to kids who love stickers

Caption Ideas:

  • Happy Halloween!
  • Enjoy your treats!
  • Trick or Treat!
  • I also included notes inside about “can’t wait to see pictures of your costumes” “enjoy the candy you receive” etc.

DIY Wedding Cake Congratulations Card

DIY Wedding Cake Congratulations Card

Materials:

  • Recollections 4.5″x6.25″ pink shimmer card “Hydrangea” (envelopes not included) [Michaels]
  • Recollections 12″x12″ paper “Tan Hearts” [Michaels]
  • Recollections 12″x12″ embossed card stock (textured) [Michaels]
  • Recollections 12″x12″ white/silver glitter card stock  [Michaels]
  • White card stock (glossy side up)
  • Martha Stewart corner rounder
  • Elmer’s Craft Bond Tacky Glue 4 fl oz
  • Ultra fine black Sharpie
  • Fine silver Metallic Sharpie
  • ruler, scissors, pencil, eraser

OrganizationLove Pro Tips:

  • I measured each cake layer to 1.25″ tall to fit the card well. Then I trimmed the middle and top layers’ sides at my own discretion. Corner rounder step was last.
  • Paper is difficult to cut using the corner rounder. It’s a good idea to put some card stock behind just to hold it steady when using the punch.
  • I used a silver Metallic Sharpie for the letter on top of the cake (the couple’s last initial) and the hearts in the corners of the congratulations banner at bottom.
  • It was difficult to fit the word “congratulations” at the bottom just right. I practiced several times to get it right, then wrote in pencil, traced in Ultra Fine black Sharpie, waited for the Sharpie to dry, and attempted to erase. Erasing is difficult on glossy card stock. But I knew the glue would hold better on the matte side.

Caption Ideas:

Because the card already says “congratulations”, I’m not sure any are needed! If you wanted to, though,:

  • Enjoy your life together
  • Two become one
  • Glad to be a part of your big day

DIY It’s Your B Day Card

DIY It's Your B Day Card www.organizationlove.wordpress.com

Materials:

  • Recollections Card/Envelope 4″x5.5″ white
  • Letter stickers (gift)
  • .35mm Archival Ink pen
  • Elmer’s Craft Bond Tacky Glue 4 fl oz
  • ruler, pencil, eraser

OrganizationLove Pro Tips:

  • Use a pencil and ruler to draw a straight line to write “It’s Your” on. Trace letters in pen or ultra fine marker, wait to dry, then erase pencil lines.
  • Any sticker letters could be used for this. The ones I had happened to fit the card well, which is important.
  • If you wanted a perfectly polished look, you could also use a pencil and ruler to draw a straight line on the bottom of the card to precisely line up your sticker letters.

Caption Ideas:

Not sure any are needed, as there are words already covering the front, but perhaps inside:

  • Enjoy your day
  • It’s your special day
  • Happy birthday
  • Have a blast

DIY Glitter Popsicle Card

DIY popsicle card www.organizationlove.wordpress.com

Materials:

  • Recollections Value Pack card/envelope 5″x6.5″  [Michaels]
  • Core Couture High Fashion 12″x12″ card stock (pink/green/blue glitter paper) [JoAnn’s Fabric]
  • Brown card stock
  • Martha Stewart corner rounder
  • Family Treasures cloud/scalloped oval punch
  • Elmer’s Craft Bond Tacky Glue 4 fl oz
  • scissors, ruler

OrganizationLove Pro Tips:

  • Use a ruler to make 3 rectangles on 3 different glitter papers. Then use a corner rounder to round the top 2 corners.
  • For the popsicle stick (brown card stock), the corner rounder I had didn’t work – the stick was too skinny for that! I just used scissors, hence why they are not identical.
  • For the “bite”, put the corner of the popsicle shape into a scalloped oval punch (looks like a cloud).

Caption Ideas:

This card could be used for a wide variety of occasions, such as:

  • Happy summer
  • Take a bite out of life
  • Happy birthday
  • You’re the sweetest
  • Thanks

DIY Rounded Squares Every Day Card

Rounded Squares Every Day Card www.organizationlove.wordpress.com

Materials:

  • The Paper Studio value pack ivory notecard/envelope 4″x5.5″ [Michaels]
  • White card stock
  • Recollections Basic Bold 12″x12″ paper pad [Michaels]
  • Martha Stewart corner rounder
  • Elmer’s Craft Bond Tacky Glue 4 fl oz
  • glue stick, scissors, ruler

OrganizationLove Pro Tips:

  • I cut 1.5″ squares and then used a corner rounder punch to round 2 corners.
  • I didn’t put all the shapes the same direction, rather kept the ones on the left facing one way and the ones on the right facing the opposite way.
  • Because the colorful paper was just paper, not card stock, I glued (using glue stick) it to plain white card stock (I had plenty of that) to keep it sturdy and also make it pop out from the card just a little.
  • Gluing it to card stock after cutting the square made things much easier when I punched it through the corner rounder! Trust me – I tried both ways, the paper alone didn’t want to punch.
  • I used the liquid glue to glue the card stock/paper combo to the card paper.
  • I made a rainbow design just for fun. You could use coordinating colors or black and white – I might try those later!

Caption Ideas:

Really could be anything – I’ll use it for an every day card, so something like:

  • Thinking of you
  • Just because
  • Sending love
